CHRISTOPHER ANDERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
FUND
This scholarship is a memorial to a 16-year-old DeKalb student, killed in a 1999
auto accident. Proceeds from the endowment provides a scholarship to a graduating
DeKalb High School senior who played soccer at D.H.S.
THE BOBCAT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in early 2001 by Alvin and Myrtie Warren, this fund
will provide scholarship support to a graduating senior at Somonauk
High School to further his/her education at a trade school, community
college or university.
JOHN S. BOYLE OAK CREST SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund, started in 2006 from a trust established by the late DeKalb attorney, will provide scholarship support to employees and their dependents at DeKalb Area
Retirement Center (Oak Crest).
THE MARVIN AND GLADYS BRIDGER SCHOLARSHIP
FUND
This fund was started, in 2002, as a memorial by the children of this Genoa-area
couple, and funds scholarship support for graduates of Genoa-Kingston High School.
LOIS L. CALLAHAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1995 with a life insurance policy, the income from this fund will
eventually support graduates from DeKalb County and Kaneland School District schools.
BARBARA CUMMINGS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
FUND
This fund enables Mrs. Cummings' family to award a DeKalb High School scholarship to a graduate intending to pursue a career in teaching. Barb Cummings died in late 2002, and the fund was started with a large number of memorial gifts.
DEKALB COUNTY 4-H SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund, started in 2006 by this local 4-H organization, will support scholarships for its youth.
DEKALB COUNTY DENTAL SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship fund for DeKalb County students was established in 1995 by the
Dental Society to honor and memorialize their members, as well as to provide
scholarships to DeKalb County graduates.
FIZZ EHRLER AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP
A memorial fund named for the longtime Sycamore businessman and car buff who died
in January 2000 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. The yearly scholarship
payout provides a Sycamore High School graduate support at Kishwaukee College.
KEITH & VIELLA GLIDDEN SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Mrs. Glidden, who died in 2007, had outlined in her estate that four-year
scholarships would be awarded to DeKalb High School students, with the first
recipient named in 2008.
JULIE EGGERT HAKA SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1998 in memory of Julie Eggert Haka, this scholarship is administered by the Sycamore Education Foundation for graduates of Sycamore High School.
RICHARD AND BARBARA SWISHER HOLLAND FUND
This Sandwich couple wanted to support a Millikin University student pursuing a
health-care career, and established this fund in 2006 in honor of a physician
instrumental in saving Barb's life.
ANNETTE AND JERRY JOHNS FUTURE TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP
FUND
This Sycamore couple began this new scholarship in 2002, to benefit a graduating
Sycamore High School student.
RHODA JOHNSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The primary purpose of this fund, established in 1999, provides scholarship support for graduating seniors at Sycamore High School.
MICHELLE JOURIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Following the untimely death in 2004 of this young DeKalb woman, Michelle's
family started this fund to start this scholarship in her memory at DeKalb High
School.
ALEX KELM MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT FUND
The Kelm family started this endowment in 2006 as a memorial to their teenage son
Alex, who died in an accident at their Genoa home. The fund will benefit the
Alternative Education Program at Kishwaukee Education Consortium, where Alex was
a student.
DONALD D. KENDALL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was established in 1997 to honor the memory of Donald Kendall. The
Sycamore Education Foundation board determines the scholarship recipient.
EMMETTE B. LAND SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1998 in memory of Emmette B. Land, this scholarship supports DeKalb
High School graduates who participated in high school athletics and have a "B"
average or above.
FRANK LANGLOIS-MADELINE MIDDLETON SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund benefits a graduating Sycamore High student. This was an existing fund
elsewhere, transferred to the Community Foundation, in 2002, from the estate of
the late Madeline Middleton.
A. RAYMOND & LOIS H. (SOHNE) LINDEN SCHOLARSHIP
The primary purpose of this fund, established late in 1999, is to provide
scholarship support for graduating seniors from Sycamore High School who will attend Northern Illinois University and study business or fine arts.
DONALD C. MACK SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment, started in 1999, utilizes the earnings to fund scholarship
assistance to a first-year student at Kishwaukee College. The recipient is one
who intends to pursue a degree or certificate in ornamental horticulture at
Kishwaukee.
MALTA LIONS SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This local service club started this, in early 2003, to provide yearly scholarship
support to a graduating DeKalb High School student who resides within the boundaries of the former Malta School District.
ROWLAND & LUCILE MATTESON DEKALB HIGH SCHOOL
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
A graduating senior will be awarded a scholarship from proceeds of this new fund,
started after the death of Lucile in 2006. Both Rowland and his wife were strong
supporters of education during their life together in DeKalb County.
WAYNE MCILRATH FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund, established in 2006, will provide scholarship support to a
returning or continuing student at Kishwaukee College, and was started by the family as a memorial to their late husband and father.
HARLAND & MABLE ORR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 2007 by Charles and Carol Orr of Sycamore, this memorial fund will
provide scholarship support to a graduating senior at DeKalb High School.
BECKY PARKER SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1997 by friends as a memorial to this courageous girl who died at
the age of 16, the income from this fund was initially used to support a graduate
of Malta High School. Following that school's merger with DeKalb High School,
the award is now presented to a D.H.S. graduate who resides in Malta.
ELEANOR ANGLIN PRICE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund, started 2001, awards a returning, or continuing student at Kishwaukee
College. The scholarship is given through the generosity of Mrs. Price, a long-time NIU educator and active community volunteer.
THOMAS R. RAUMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was established in memory of Thomas Rauman in 1998 and provides
scholarships to DeKalb High School graduates. The recipients are selected by the
DeKalb Education Foundation.
RENAISSANCE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This new fund was started in 2007 by Sycamore's Yvonne Johnson, who saw the need
to assist a student who has been out in the work force and wanted to attend, or
return, to a college environment. The annual scholarship will be for $1,000
renewable for up to three years.

EDWIN "Skinny" RIIPPI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment will support a graduating football player at DeKalb High School,
and was established in 2006 by Mrs. Riippi as a memorial to her late husband.
JOLYNN WISTED ROGERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
A scholarship for the DeKalb High School graduate intending to pursue a business
curriculum is possible through this endowment. Established by the family of Jolynn
Rogers by her husband Rick and children Courtney and Jordan, the fund will be a
lasting memorial to this DeKalb woman, who died of cancer during 2005.
SHARON ROSENOW SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1998 in memory of this Little John Elementary School teacher, it
is used to support a scholarship for DeKalb High School graduates selected by
the DeKalb Education Foundation.
WILLIAM SCHINSKE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was established in 1998 in memory of William Schinske and is used to
support a scholarship for a Sycamore High School graduate who intends to major
in engineering.
ROY W. "SMITTY" & CORA E. "CODY" SMITH FOOTBALL
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The annual recipient of this scholarship fund is a standout football player from
Sycamore High School. The four sons and one daughter of this local couple, who both died during 2001, started this fund.
KATHLEEN AND KENNETH SPEARS SCHOLARSHIP
FUND
Established in 1994 with a life insurance policy, the income from this fund will
eventually provide scholarships to students graduating from the Indian Creek
High School in Shabbona.
BEATRICE STANKUS FUND
Established in late-1999, this fund is administered by the DeKalb Education
Foundation. Its earnings will provide scholarship support for graduating seniors
from DeKalb High School.
CHARLOTTE SUNDLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The income from this scholarship fund established in 1995 is awarded to female
graduates of Sycamore High School planning a business major at Kishwaukee
Community College.
SYCAMORE MASONIC LODGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Following the dissolution of this local Masonic chapterin 2004, its members opted
to use some of its remaining funds to start this scholarship, which will be awarded yearly at Sycamore High School.
HAROLD P. WELLS SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Harold P. Wells was a retired Northern Illinois University professor who passed
away in 1996. His family and friends established this fund in 1997 to support
educational expenses for employees and families of the DeKalb Fire Department.
GUYLA WINEBRENER SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This DeKalb resident has established this fund in 2004 with life insurance, from
which proceeds will ultimately be used to create a scholarship fund to provide
support to employees of Oak Crest or their immediate families.
